By Alexandre Trochut
The Remedy Project' first track will see Hadiya George debuts with a single called ‘Hot Flavor’ and planned to be released for the 12th March 2021.
After entrusting the artistic direction of Sondela' new Afro-House label, Simon Dunmore continues to expand Defected Records label catalog with the signature of his protégé, brainchild of DJ, broadcaster, A&R and voice of Glitterbox Radio french Melvo Baptiste, is set to launch his label in March.
Coming from a family of dancers, record collectors passionate about music, Baptiste's musical education having been synonymous with a strict diet of soul, rare groove, funk and disco, The Remedy Project will see him devote himself discovering brilliant new talents who innovate especially in these longest standing genres in music.
“ I have spent a decade promoting new music via various different radio shows, always wishing I could do more for artists to help further their career in music. I can now offer to these guys a platform and showcase the abundance of amazing music that’s out there. ”

Also influenced by his uncle Norman Jay’s after he visiting him at Sunday night BBC Radio London show, Melvo soon picked up DJing organically and found himself tapping in to the family vocation. A globetrotting DJ career and a decade in radio followed, first at Gordon Mac’s Mi-Soul Radio, and then for global disco authority Glitterbox where he discovered talents likes of budding Atlanta songwriter Hadiya George.
“ I am simply chuffed to be starting this journey with The Remedy Project. Our debut release comes from Atlanta resident Hadiya George, an amazingly talented singer/songwriter. I first came across the video for ‘Hot Flavor’ online back in 2019, I knew it was special so immediately made contact. I’m really excited to work further with Hadiya and also continue to build a team of artists that you may just see as part of a live night once venues allow. ”

After she leant her vocals to house music luminary Honey Dijon’s single ‘Not About You’, Honey’s most commercially successful release to date, Hadiya' produced & self-released record ‘Hot Flavor’, a strikingly poised debut, was what turned Melvo’s head, leading to her signing with him in 2020.
“ Anyone can relate to ‘Hot Flavor’ how they want, the meaning will hit you when you listen. ‘Hot Flavor’ just has a lot of emotion in it and you can piece together where the inspiration comes from – the vibe was inspired by Pharrell ‘Let’s Get Blown’. The song was made by 3lo, they all play instruments and I recorded with a friend of mine 4 years ago. I’m just ready for ‘Hot Flavor’ to be out. It’s been a long time anticipating the release, since Melvo found me on the internet, so I’m super anxious and excited! ”
