Telepathic Instruments, the audio hardware company co-founded by Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, has introduced its debut product, Orchid, an innovative chord-generating hardware synthesizer designed to revolutionize songwriting and musical exploration.

Conceived over a decade ago by Kevin Parker of Tame Impala and developed alongside co-founders, Orchid combines cutting-edge technology with artistic creativity.

Orchid isn’t just about how much you know or don’t know — it’s about shaking up your creative process…It’s a tool for anyone who wants to step outside their musical comfort zone, to experiment and to find what’s on their mind

At the heart of Orchid lies a unique chord logic system that allows musicians to craft and shape chords with ease. Using an intuitive layout of eight chord-modifying keys, a one-octave keyboard, and a patent-pending voicing system, users can generate rich harmonic progressions spanning an entire piano range. These features are powered by a lush 16-voice polyphonic synth engine, a dedicated bass synth, and onboard ambience and modulation effects.

Orchid is an advanced chord generating synthesiser designed to help musicians of all levels find what’s on their mind. Its intuitive design invites musicians to effortlessly generate, modify and experiment with new chords and progressions, and then apply voicings, sounds and performance styles.

Telepathic Instruments

Physically, Orchid is a masterpiece of retro-inspired design. Created by Ignacio Germade, it boasts dual built-in speakers, a rechargeable battery for portability, and a sleek aesthetic. Performance modes like Strum, Harp, and Arpeggiator offer dynamic ways to bring chords to life, while additional features such as MIDI out, loop mode, and an array of built-in effects provide endless creative possibilities.

Orchid also includes three synth engines, developed by Stefan Stenzel, featuring virtual analog, FM, and vintage reed piano emulations, complete with mechanical noise samples for authenticity.

The limited-edition launch includes 1,000 units, available to U.S. customers starting December 18th via telepathicinstruments.com for $549. Early adopters will join The Garden, an online community shaping Orchid’s future ahead of its mass release.
